Left and Right Brain Dominance
Everyone in this world has different characteristic about
using their brain. When someone is categorized as person who is dominant to use
left brain, they will be more logical, analytical, and objective. In the other
hand, while a person who is "right-brained" is said to be more
intuitive, thoughtful, and subjective. Krashen,
Seliger and Hartnett (1974} found support for hypothesis that
left-brain-dominant second language learners preferred a deductive style of
teaching, while right-brain-dominant learners appeared to be more successful in
an inductive classroom environment.
Ambiguity Tolarance
Ambiguity Tolerance is tendency to fell the strange or
uncommon situations. Ambiguity was described as caused by the nature of cues
available in the context or stimulus given. McLain (1993), for example, defines
ambiguity as not having sufficient information about a context. According to
Budner (1962), ambiguous situations can be of three different types: new
situations, complex situations, and contradictory situations. These are,
respectively, where there are not sufficient or nonexistent cues, where there
are too many cues, and where cues are not easy to distinguish.
REFLECTIVITY AND
IMPULSIVITY
It is common for us to show in our personalities certain
tendencies toward reflectivity sometime and impulsivity at other times. The
implications for language acquisition are numerous. It has been found that
children who are conseptually reflective tend to make fewer errors in reading
then implusive children (Kagali, 1965); however, implusive person are usually
faster readers, and eventually master the "psycholonguistic guessing game"
(Goodman, 1970) of reading so that their implusive style of reading may not
necessarily deter comprehention.
Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic Styles
Visual learning is the manner to learn something
by using the method of visual or appearance ( it tends to the object what they
look). Auditory is learning by using sounds, so it is dominant to remember what
the get from their hearing. Kinesthetic Styles is learning style which uses the
movement of body.
