Age and Acquisition


As teacher we should know who the learners are, for  the teaching method for the children and adults is different.The children are better language learner than adults. Why it can happen? because the children are easier to receive the subject than adults because in their mind there is no many problems and responsibility, so space of memory to study is very large, it is 360 degrees with adult, they have many problems in their life. So if children as learner, we as teacher must make situation of learning be enjoyable. No stressful. In other hand, for adult must be serious and full of concentration. Accordingly, as the teacher we should know the teaching method that is suitable with the learner, for the teaching method absolutely affect language acquisition. 
Language

Language is a complex, specialized skill, which develops in the child spontaneously, without conscious effort of formal instruction is deployed without awareness of its underlying logic is qualitatively the same in every individual and is distinct from more general abilities to process information or behave intelligently.

1.      Language is systematic
2.      Language is a set of arbitrary symbols.
3.      Those symbols are primarily vocal, but may also be visual.
4.      The symbols have conventionalized meanings to which they refer.
5.      Language is use for communication.
6.      Language operates in a speech community of culture.
7.      Language is essential human although possibly not limited to human.
8.      Language is acquired by all people in much the same way.

Learning and Teaching

Based on Wikipedia, Learning is the act of acquiring new, or modifying and reinforcing, existing knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, or preferences and may involve synthesizing different types of information. UNESCO define that teaching is the most immediate process for supporting learning and for enabling learners to acquire expected competencies. Therefore, learning and teaching are interrelated and cannot be separated.
