Age and acquisition:
The acquisition of new skills over a life span is a remarkable human ability. This ability, however, is constrained by age of acquisition that is, the age at which learning occurs significantly affects the outcome. This is most clearly reflected in domains such as language, music, and athletics. This article provides a perspective on the neural and computational mechanisms underlying in language acquisition. The authors show how modulates both monolingual lexical processing and bilingual language acquisition. They consider the conditions under which syntactic processing and semantic processing may be differentially sensitive to effects in second-language acquisition. The authors conclude that effects are pervasive and that the neural and computational mechanisms underlying learning and sensor motor integration provide a general account of these effects.

Language:
Language is the human ability to acquire and use complex systems of communication, and a language is any specific example of such a system. The scientific study of language is called linguistics.
Language is the most important aspect in the life of all beings.

We use language to express inner thoughts and emotions, make sense of complex and abstract thought, to learn to communicate with others, to fulfill our wants and needs, as well as to establish rules and maintain our culture.

Learning and Teaching:
Learning and Teaching will prepare you with a deep understanding of educational principles and best practices that will enable you to take on dynamic new leadership roles in your school or organization. In the Learning and Teaching Program, you will join a diverse cohort of educators striving to make a greater impact in the lives of all learners as school wide leaders and education reformers. Together, you will explore topics as varied as school reform and design; arts and technology in the classroom; theories of teaching and learning; adult and adolescent development; race, class, and gender dynamics; as well as the history and future of education in America.
