SOME COOPERATIVE LEARNING TECHNIQUES

1.      Inside Outside Circle (Used With Guided Questions)
This discussion technique gives students the opportunity to respond to questions and/or discuss information with a variety of peers in a structured manner. Students form two concentric circles and exchange information with a partner until the teacher signals the outer circle to move in one direction, giving each student a new peer to talk to. How to Use it:
·         Split the Class : Decide which half of the students will form the inside circle and which half will form the outside circle.
·         Question :Put a question or statement on the board.  Give students at least ten seconds to think of an answer on their own.
·         Share : Ask students in the inside circle to share their response with the classmate facing them in the outside circle. When they have done this, ask them to say "pass,” at which point their partners in the outside circle will share their responses.
·         Rotate : On your signal, have the outside circle move one step to the left or right and discuss the same question with the new partner. Option: post a new question or give the new partners a different discussion point.

2.      Hot Seat
·         A student is asked to sit on in front of the class
·         With the topic has been decided, the other students must deliver questions related a topic.
·         The hot seater should answer the question in quick.
·         When the whole classes finish delivering questions, the teacher asks them to review what they have discussed.
3.      Talking Chips
Talking chips technique is a technique that is used in teaching speaking to make the students active in the class. In applying talking chips technique, teachers should know the steps and procedures to apply this technique in the teaching speaking. first, each person is given a number of markers. Second, each time a person wants to talk, a chip is placed in the center of the table. Third, when an individual’s chips are all in the center of the table, she/ he cannot talk again until everyone’s chips are all in the center. Last, the chips are then retrieved and tribute to begin again.
4.      Dice Techniques

Each person starts with a dice in his hand. After he throws the dice, he explains what topic he gets. And a vice versa to another student.
