AUTONOMY,
AWARENESS, AND ACTION-STRATEGIES-LEARNING STRATEGIES
I.
There are three concepts of styles and
strategies in learning second language: autonomy, awareness, and action. So, we
will discuss one by one of those concepts.
1. AUTONOMY
a. Allowing the
learners to do things like initiate oral production
b. Solve problem
in a small groups
c. Practice language
forms in pairs
d. Practice using
the language out-side of classroom
2. AWARENESS
a. Showed that
English learners in Quebec displayed no awareness of their own intitions about
language learning
b. Suggested further
attempt to help students to increase awareness.
So, the point is that too much awareness, too
much explicit focus on grammar, or too much devotion to rules, will smoother
learners learning to simply use language.
3. ACTION
Learner who represents the other side of the coin-intolerant of
ambiguity, analytical, linear thinking-can obviously benefit from awareness of
those procilivitics and from taking appropriate strategic action.
II.
STRATEGIES
There are two crucial
thing in leaning second language acquisition, those are learning style and
communication strategies. The formal relate to input-to processing, storage,
and retrieval, that is to taking in messages from others.
III.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
The typical o strategies
were divided into three main categories.
a. Metacognitive
is a term used in information-processing theory to indicate an “executive”
function.
b. Cognitive
strategies are more limited to specific learning tasks and involve more direct
manipulation of the learning material itself.
c. Socio affective
strategies have to do with social-mediating activity and interacting with
others.
