COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES
          Communication strategies pertain to employment of verbal or nonverbal mechanism for the productive communication of information and also communication strategies as potentially conscious plans for solving what to an individual present itself as a problem in reaching a particular communicative goal. We will elaborate on a few of the strategies.

Avoidance Strategies
            Avoidance is a common communication strategy that can be broken down into several subcategories. The most common type of avoidance strategy is message abandonment and topic avoidance.

Compensatory Strategies
·         Circumlocution
·         Approximation
·         Use of all-purpose words
·         Word coinage
·         Prefabricated pattern
·         Nonlinguistic signal
·         Literal translation
·         Foreign zing
·         Code-switching
·         Appeal for help
·         Stalling on time-gaining strategies

Syntactic or lexical avoidance within a semantic category and phonological avoidance is also common, as in the case of Japanese tennis partner of mine who avoided using the word rally and instead opted to say, simply, “hit the ball”. STRATEGIES BASED INTRUCTION

            Strategies based instruction is much of work of researches and teachers on the application of both learning and communication strategies classroom learning has come to be known generally as strategies based instruction or as learner strategy training. Teacher can benefit from an understanding of what makes learners successful and unsuccessful and establish in the classroom a milieu for the realization of successful strategies.
